Best Time for Circumcision
The optimal time for circumcising a newborn is between one and three months. At this age, babies feel less pain, are less likely to move during the procedure, and have no lasting memory of the event. The healing process is also quicker, and the scar fades over time.
Types of Circumcision Methods
Surgical Method (Traditional): This method uses stitches and is more suitable for children over one year old.
Ring Method: This method is more common for newborns due to its lower risk of complications and better cosmetic results.
Other Methods: Techniques such as circumcision with clamps (silver clips) or lasers are rarely used due to higher complication rates and are not recommended.
Post-Operative Care
After circumcision, apply a lubricating ointment like Vaseline to the tip of the penis for two weeks. Occasionally, a course of antibiotic syrup may be prescribed for a few days. Using sterile gauze dressings, leaving the diaper open, or applying Betadine on the operation site does not speed up recovery.
