The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Parsa Hospital is a specialized and crucial department designed to provide the best medical care for newborns who require intensive attention. Located on the third floor of Building A, this unit is recognized as one of Tehran’s leading centers for neonatal care.
Advanced Equipment and Facilities
Parsa Hospital’s NICU is equipped with modern and advanced facilities, including 6 specialized beds and 6 neonatal incubators. These incubators are designed to create ideal conditions for the care and treatment of premature and ill newborns. Incubators play a vital role in maintaining the baby’s body temperature, as premature infants need a warm and safe environment due to their underdeveloped immune systems and limited ability to regulate their body temperature.
The unit is also equipped with respirators to assist with infant breathing, which plays a critical role in saving the lives of little ones when necessary. A 16-lamp phototherapy unit is another essential piece of equipment in this department, used for treating neonatal jaundice (icterus). This device uses special light to reduce excess bilirubin in the baby’s blood, effectively resolving the jaundice.
Specialized Treatment Services
The NICU at Parsa Hospital offers a wide range of treatment services. Caring for premature infants is one of the primary services provided, utilizing advanced equipment and an experienced team. Babies born prematurely require special care, which is delivered with the utmost quality in this unit. Treating neonatal jaundice is another significant service, carried out with modern phototherapy devices. This common issue in many newborns can be managed and treated with careful monitoring and appropriate care. Additionally, other infant illnesses are also treated in this unit.
Continuous monitoring of vital signs for newborns is performed using advanced monitors, allowing for precise tracking of heart rate, respiration, and body temperature. These monitoring systems help the medical staff take immediate action if any problems arise.
Experienced Medical Staff
One of the strengths of Parsa Hospital’s NICU is its highly experienced and specialized medical staff, who have a long history of treating and improving the health of premature infants. This team comprises neonatologists, neonatology subspecialists, and pediatricians who provide the best care with their expertise and up-to-date knowledge. Specialized nurses are also an integral part of this treatment team; with their specialized training, they are capable of providing complex and precise care for newborns. This dedicated staff is committed to the health, safety, and comfort of patients.
Welfare and Educational Facilities
In addition to medical services, the NICU at Parsa Hospital also provides suitable welfare facilities for families. The mothers’ resting room is one such facility, allowing mothers to stay close to their infants. This option is not only emotionally and psychologically beneficial for mothers but also positively impacts the baby’s recovery process. The breastfeeding education room is another special facility in this unit, where mothers receive necessary guidance on infant care in a safe and calm environment. These educational sessions cover proper breastfeeding techniques, how to care for a newborn, and methods for establishing a strong bond with the baby.
